With our shot blasting system at the Hildburghausen plant, Metob is expanding its range of surface preparation services. Shot blasting complements our wet-chemical pretreatment processes and creates additional options for processing a wide variety of components and workpiece geometries.
By integrating the shot blasting system into our existing production processes, we can prepare components efficiently, reduce lead times and expand capacity. Our customers benefit from a reliable single-source solution – from pretreatment through to coating.
We also offer shot blasting as a separate, stand-alone service, broadening our portfolio for customers.
Shot blasting is suitable for components whose surfaces need to be specifically prepared, cleaned or optimised for subsequent coating processes. For workpieces of varying geometries and sizes in particular, the system offers an efficient way of achieving defined surface qualities.
As a complement to wet-chemical pretreatment, shot blasting helps to extend the range of parts we can coat and to meet additional surface preparation requirements.
The shot blasting system at the Hildburghausen plant has a processing window of 800 × 400 mm, allowing a wide variety of components and workpiece sizes to be processed reliably.
The wire mesh belt conveyor system enables gentle yet efficient processing of a wide range of workpiece geometries. Components are guided reliably through the blasting process, supporting uniform treatment with a high level of process reliability.
With its own shot blasting system, Metob offers additional options in surface preparation and can make coating processes even more flexible. Customers benefit from shorter routes, reduced lead times and increased processing capacity.
Combining shot blasting, pretreatment and coating within a single coordinated production process ensures high process reliability and consistent quality of the processed components.
A key advantage of the shot blasting system is its direct integration into Metob’s production processes. In-house blasting eliminates additional external process steps, reducing interfaces, shortening lead times and increasing flexibility.
The system is equipped with eight powerful wheel blast turbines, which ensure even and complete coverage with blasting media. This allows defined and reproducible surface qualities to be achieved – even on more complex components.
During shot blasting, the workpieces are transported through the system on the wire mesh belt conveyor. Within the process, the wheel blast turbines apply blasting media evenly to the component surfaces.
The result is controlled, reproducible surface treatment that can be optimally matched to subsequent coating processes. The combination of mechanical surface preparation and our existing wet-chemical processes gives customers an extended process chain within Metob’s production.
